A readers sent me that image and the specs of the Olympus 300mm PRO lens that will be announced on January 6th. Don’t know where he got them (some German magazine or store brochure). Specs:
300mm f/4.0 IS PRO (600mm equivalent)
17 lenses in 10 groups
140cm close focusing distance
77mm filter
93x227mm, 1475g
In lens stabilization (up to 6 stops!)
weather sealed
Price: 2600 Euro
Shipment in March
The text I received from the source also says:
The Olympus lens weights 4-5 kilo less than comparable 600mm FF equivalent lenses like the Canon 600mm IS USM. On Amazon the Canon sells for $11,500 (but the Canon FF lens gathers more light as it’s designed for FF cameras).
Another advantage of the new Olympus lens is the stabilization system which is said to be best of the world.
