Hidden Lake, North Cascade National Park. The trail starts in forest, winds through a meadow of wildflowers and cuts into some snowfields before finally reaches bounders that set the foundation of a decommissioned fire lookout. For the adventurous ones, camping is possible in the basin. Alternatively, go up to the lookout early and beat everyone else to the well-equipped sleeping quarter! From post-war era to the twenty-first century, building designs have always been about maximizing usable space in Hong Kong. When the city ran out of land, skyscrapers filled up the old neighbourhood. When people live closer and closer to the sky, the property value follows and hence the Cantonese idiom "寸金尺土," literally means "an inch of gold for a foot of land."
